Following the Chinese zodiac cycle, 2024 is the year of the dragon. There are 15 days to the Lunar New Year celebration but typically the first 3 days are the most celebrated. In celebration of the festive season, this is a post for Day 1.

Yet again, this came from a doodle... then from there, i just couldn't help myself & continued to add more fun & a few extra nutty bonus cartoons. Hence the number 6. A great caricature artist by the name of Al Hirschfield used to add & scribble his daughters' name into each drawing. He then would add a number next to his signature signaling how many times the name 'Nina' would appear. So in a similar way i too have decided to add a number but mine will simply offer a hint for how many extra cartoons i have deliberately added. Can u find them?
This came about from a doodle. Doodling is a combination of skilled scribbling, mindless direction & abstract tracing. Doodling [For Me] is not sketching someone's portrait or rendering a photo. It's freely skating w a pencil or pen along a drawing surface & searching for discoveries & different unusual paths that some how result in some lovely surprises. So here ye go. I am Medusa. Once I was a beautiful woman. The god of the sea raped me and the virgin goddess punished me by turning me to half-animal. I found seclusion and solace at the edge of the world on mount Atlas where I lived among my kind. But the revenge of the righteous knows no pity so they sent one of their heros after me. The man killed me the half-woman to establish his glory and he took my head with him. Because in the world of the gods you are either animal or man, but nothing inbetween.
My fan art of Season One, Episode One of #NewGirl. I both miss and love the show so much and have probably binged watched it all the way through about 50x times or more. I believe I captured Nick's turtle face perfectly. Thoughts? :)
This is Lianhua. She is from the Tang Dynasty in the Year 700 Ad. She is wearing a type of hanfu (traditional Chinese dress) called a Qixiong Ruqun. If anyone knows more on Hanfu and Chinese historical fashion, let me know if I I got the the time period right or if the styles are from different time periods. Gold and Jade are especially favored among the Chinese. The gold ginko leaves (ginko trees are also know for its longevity) across a background of green is to symbolize abundance in health and wealth for the new year. But with the leader of the seven, a living dragon, sealed away in the Great Tree of Yggdrasil , they have no way to figure out how to save everybody.
