Inspired by the tides at Jologo Beach on the Dampier Peninsula where Soldier Crabs create their homes, leaving little balls of sand around the entrance to their home.
Raise a hand if you've ever been pressured into any kind of physical activity that made you uncomfortable. Raise your hand if you've been raped, touched, pressured into sending pictures, or anything of the sort? A lot of you, ey? Bet you dunno who to tell, or how to tell em'. Or maybe you don't even want to tell them. But you still feel so many strong emotions about it, or maybe you don't feel anything. No matter what the case is, what you are going through/went through is valid. You are valid. I hope this piece finds you well. And if you don't understand this piece that's ok, don't judge it though hon. Ain't nobody got time for ur judgment. OWN YOUR GODDAMN STORY. Another attempt at utilizing varied line density. I think it came out better than the previous attempt, since the lines aren't too thick. I didn't really know what to do with this one, so it kind of feels bland as a result.
I pride myself for not being into internet drama or spreading gossip, but i do have a guilty pleasure. Mohammad agbadi is a youtuber who talks about problems with the art community, like tracing, theft, harassing and difficulties with etnic representation. Hopefully he wouldnt mind me borrowing his face to practise drawing black men... even though i heavily overworked his skin.
Twizzy loves all things yellow. Cause it feel like the sun and is always bright. Speaking of which , she also likes flowers. Her faves are sunflowers, marigolds, buttercups, tulips, etc.
This is my first attempt at traditional egg tempera painting. The panel is a Masonite board from Michaels, but I need to use true gesso because the egg tempera will not adhere to acrylic gesso. Some of my favorite artists used egg tempera. Andrew Wyeth, Robert Vickrey, and Colin Fraser are all masters of this ancient and archival medium. I have been self studying this technique for months and I was very excited to start experiencing the medium. Egg tempera is like layering stained glass on top of stained glass. the painter can expect a luminous glow to take shape as the colors blend visually through the layers of paint - assisted by the chalk of the true gesso. Egg tempera has been described as the closest painting technique to drawing, hence my draw to this medium.
Playing around with digital stained-glass effects, and thought it would be fun to portray tropical summer vibes in a medium where you don't usually find them. Shout out to Lisa Bardot at bardotbrush.com for the basic digital technique.

I decided to go with the mimic octopus color palette as the main one. The colors compliment each other nicely, and it doesn't look too busy as a result.
I always start packing by packing my books. For larger ones I love using twine.
Moving soon. So tiring!

Rest in Power, Paul Reubens. I watched a lot of Pee-wee Herman as a young kid. As an adult, Paul Reuben's collection of erotic gay art made him interesting to me but misunderstood by many people. Any way you take him, he was funny and made many people laugh. I painted a scene from Pee-wee's Big Adventure, a classic Pee-wee movie from 1985. I love the California scenery and am happy with how the landscape turned out.
