surf

I do generally put pen (or some kind of tool), to paper (or some kind of surface), every day, but I'm really TRYING to do it purposefully in one singular location (journal). Here is a successful attempt from that particular day. I'm also super lazy, which means I never go up to my actual studio and only use what's out on my computer desk.

This sketchbook is all about triangle patterns! Each page starts with a base layer of connecting triangles. From there, I fill in different patterns on each page, challenging myself to come up with new ideas for each page.

I've been learning procreate and drawing with an Apple Pencil. It feels a little artificial but it's so fun.

These cats live in Bali and surf nearly every day. When they're not surfing they're eating. When they're not eating or surfing they're napping.

This was the first of the same lion drawn on two different surfaces. This one was drawn in pastels on sanded paper.

I love to come up with these mindless but interesting hard surface shapes and technical stuff. It has a meditative effect on me like drawing mandalas ^^ Inspiration comes from Tsutomu Nihei again.

We continue the #inktober environmental issues series with the #day19 word: #scorched and for this word I tried to illustrate the Urban Heat Island effect. This takes place in metropolitan areas that are warmer than the rural areas surrounding them. The main cause of the UHI effect is the alteration of land surfaces (concrete and asphalt). Heat waste produced by people and their tools (like vehicles and industry) is another cause and also the decreased amount of vegetation. UHIs often have lower air and water quality that have a negative effect on the environment of these areas. It is also considered to be a possible contribution to global warming. © Maria!Bălan, 2018
