I drew a London Street Building, source from pinterest using the freehand sketch method. The story behind this sketch is that I drew it with a hesitation feeling, you can feel it when you see how my lines were drawn to create the brick texture.

Fun with pencil. I use a 9H pencil to carve images into the paper and then a B pencil to draw over them, giving the drawings the feeling of textures.

In this captivating cross-hatched pencil shading, a tranquil village scene comes to life. The intricate strokes create a harmonious blend of light and shadow, showcasing the serene beauty of rural life. I modified the challenge a wee bit. I didn't use the same paper for the various drawings since I was using (top row, left to right) hard graphite pencils (3H to HB), watercolor pencils, (bottom row, left to right) brush pens and ballpoint pen. These media work best on very different paper textures and moisture absorbing qualities. The second picture shows the object of my study --- and the apparatus I use to hold botanical subjects. "Third hand" tools are very useful and cheap. This one was under $10 and serves my purposes well. Just FYI. (Each drawing/painting was scanned and composited in Photoshop.)

Prismacolor colored pencil drawing of stylized begonias. This was fun, especially making the leaves have a satin texture. I printed this on card stock as a blank card to give to friends.

This is from one of my older sketchbooks. I used salt on the red watercolor paint while it was still wet to get the textured background effect.

Old books, working on texture and value

My project for a skillshare course I am taking. I am trying to work on developing more textures and drama to my paintings as well as improving on the composition. I feel only positive emotions after drawing this landscape. It's a bit wintery, snowy, and magical. I love the background texture. But I still need to work on the details. Recently, I discovered the miraculous power of gouache. I ordered paints a few days ago (still waiting for the shipment). That's why there are only digital versions for now. I have already purchased a course on the Domestika platform. I'm going to try my skills at traditional painting on paper. It will be a big challenge. These are seashells that I copied out from Dana Fox’s (In the Ocean) book. They were fun but it was also challenging trying to capture the likeness and texture of seashells.

I've been working on this since mid September. This is my first attempt at using an engraver to help with the fur texture.

This is a portrait of Johnny Depp as Grindelwald. I mainly focused on the texture of the skin and the intensity of his eye.

This is part of a sequence inspired by @moonchildillustrations and her #moontoberweekends prompts (this one is apple!). This was fun, I want to start incorporating more animation/ sequences on what I create. I got inspired by my mother, when she was little she was scared of eating seeds because she thought they would grow out of her ears. With that in mind, have a great October!

PLaying in the studio with watercolour paints and inks - created a planetarium of textural ideas - had great fun doing this and now plan to use some these effects in my next piece.

I don't know what this means but I think it has something to do with my quest for self actualization...or something
