One of my favorite things about being a parent is listening to the stories my daughter makes up and really trying to encourage her imagination. She has named a bunch of the cacti which line our windowsills, while our cacti are very accustomed to their suburban lives they also like a bit of adventure, this is a group of them taking a family vacation to the desert.

Sakura Pigma Micron pen and DR PH Martin Radiant Concentrated Watercolors. One side was painted, then embellished with ink, scanned into Photoshop, copied, flipped and pasted to make the two sides. (Fairly large image, so I included a couple of details.) Silly but fun to do. A little "acid" and a few hours of gazing is all you need for a profound experience. Ask me how I know.
Situational awareness is important these days. Pre-pandemic, I sometimes take my doodles to coffee shops during my lunch breaks and relax for half an hour or so by mindlessly scribbling/shading with my Bic pen. People usually leave me alone but this drawing made me realise that not everyone wants to see a man drawing a naked man. A few people took exception to my subjects’ lack of clothing and made their displeasure known by telling me. Acrylic markers in mixed media sketchbook. This one is a bit rougher because my markers have medium sized nibs. I still enjoyed the process and the feel of the paint flowing onto the page.
