I had just started painting again and all the years if holding back...holding it in, caught up with me. California was burning and the demons inside of me were smoldering too, waiting to get out.

These are 5 out of 12 images I did while processing the necessity of healing from life lessons. Heartbreak is prevalent throughout all the levels of tragedies in our lives. At times, the mourning period feels forced-- I never really want my wounds to heal because I feel they're the last of the love I carried for that "thing". The process feels like gold pouring into my gapping heart and I can only scream as it sears through my veins. It hurts to heal. It hurts that it has to happen.

Superstitions: Skull. It was claimed in Ireland for many years that if a man took an oath on a skull and was lying as he did so, he would be struck dead soon thereafter. * Maybe we should bring that back and make politicians swear on the skulls of those who lied and died. This is part of a sequence inspired by @moonchildillustrations and her #moontoberweekends prompts (this one is apple!). This was fun, I want to start incorporating more animation/ sequences on what I create. I got inspired by my mother, when she was little she was scared of eating seeds because she thought they would grow out of her ears. With that in mind, have a great October!

Pandemic caricature self portrait no3.... Waiting for the Muse, or maybe Tears of the Clown?

I wanted to redo a simple drawing from 2011. I found it lying around the piles of paper that I swarmed myself with a decade ago. I like to think I've learned a bit more technique in these past years.

The source reference image was from an impromptu photo shoot I did several years ago. The available light in the room was magical and the model was just sitting there meditating. Pencil, Charcoal Pencil, Pastel Pencils on 9” x 12” Strathmore Archival Sketchbook Paper.

Where do I begin with this one? This is a drawing of my dad and I; the picture was taken back in 2006, a happier time, I suppose. I don't commonly think about my dad, I don't necessarily think about how much I miss him or how I wish I could see him again, so it was odd for me to sit and look through old photos. I don't really know my dad; I do, but I don't. My dad was physically part of my life for 10 years, the second half of those were not the best. Mental illness, self medicating for years, debt, heroin, arguments, threats, uncertainty. I feel like I remember the negative more because I was older, my parents couldn't hide it from me like they used to. At the same time, when he was sober and stable, life was good. Life was great, things felt complete. So here I am, 6 years since he died. I don't want to say his image is fading, but I know less of who he was than I did before. I see the good from some (the ones who praise him, who act like he was a saint), and I see the bad from others (the one who felt the pain). I suppose I no longer see my view, my memories aren't there anymore. I don't necessarily feel sad, the anger has faded, and I can't say I'm happy. Maybe I'll figure it out one day, but, for now, it is what it is.

'Queen of Marseille' I I have discovered a few unfinished sketches from my previous travels to France from few years ago. I decided to bring them back to life. I think before I didn't like them so much as I do now. My first lady of Marseille saying 'Salut' and I am slowely saying 'Goodbye' to the summer...

I did this drawing nine years ago.

This was my first trial with doodling in years. Done during the COVID lockdown, I was feeling lonely and anxious, and had only a piece of paper and one marker at hand. I smoked a joint and started drawing. I'm particularly proud of this one because it was completely intuitive and free-style, and it made me confident enough to keep doodling afterwards.

The Nornwan: World Of Wonder series has always had Adventure Time at its inspired heart. I just figured I'd finally make this and practice a little imitation of one of my favorite art styles, tell you the truth, I used to hate Adventure Time, I used to think it was too simple, and even dumb, but after a few years and a little convincing, I got into it. And I've had a happier life ever since. Thank you.

I drew this on my iPad. I drew this for someone on another art site. I loved drawing her character. Her style and the bunny ears are totally my taste in things I like to draw.

So we like to crumple up paper throw it down on the sketch pad and draw something in the shape of the shadow that appears. It’s really fun and always something new. This guy is the result of one crumpled up piece.
