Catty corner or kitty corner or also cater cornered.
Such a weird expression that today I learned is to be identified with obsolete cater “four”, from Middle French quatre.

Watercolour and coloured pencil on watercolour paper. Usually I paint on watercolour paper that costs about 3$ for a pad with 10 sheets. This was the first time I painted on paper that costs about 1$ per sheet. And yes, it DOES make a difference. :D
I suppose this was just a tester/practice piece? My first actual still life from observation and my first time actually using charcoal (yes, I've never truly used charcoal before. Charcoal and pastels are two things I avoid. Their looseness and freeness scare me, considering how rigid I can be). Not sure how to feel about this one. I'm my worst critic, and I've known that for a long time now. There's a lot of practice and progress to be made, but it turned out half-way decent.

Beginning.
It was so very hot today. The sun beat down on Martin's head like on a drum.
The rest of the adventure will have to be continued in a bucket, Martin decided.

Glaucomys sabrinus, northern flying squirrel has belly fur that is gray at the base. Flying squirrels might more appropriately be called “gliding squirrels” because they aren’t capable of true powered flight that a pterosaur, a bird or a bat can do. My sister-in-law called me on the phone while playing Giant Sandwich VS Princess Ballerina with my (then) 3-year-old niece, (who I assumed was the Princess Ballerina.) From what I could hear over the phone, my niece was using a "flying fist punch" to devastate the evil "Giant Sammich," (which was later described as a ham and swiss on white with flimsy leaves of lettuce.)
After that call, I imagined what that fight looked like and put it down on paper.
