Getting back to work after a few years of making and raising my two babies in Teton Valley, Idaho.
I specialize in handlettering, illustration, patterns.
Had time between a couple of appointments this past Tuesday to go to the Arcata Marsh and do a couple of quick sketches. I also got to try out my new Pilot Kakuno fountain pen and it’s terrific! Like it was made for sketching. I did them in a 7x5” Pentalic Nature Sketch sketchbook. If you want to start sketching with a fountain pen, I heartily recommend the Kakuno, which is only around $10. I bought mine from JetPens.
I have quite a bit of traveling planned this Summer...from NYC to Copenhagen to Venice to Berlin and a few more spots. Very much looking forward to all the different colors, cities, and cultures in the coming weeks.
It’s not good.
Indian ink - quick study of flying ducks
I used to doodle on caps back in 2010 and haven’t drawn on any for a few years, upon request I am creating some for an exhibition. I used white acrylic as a base before drawing using permanent ink pen.
Soft pastels - mountains
This was a bird study for a painting. The customer loved it so much that they wanted the drawing instead. That suits me fine. In the end it is what the customer wants that really counts.
Working on a series of new poster ideas... Inspired by witch hunts, fake news, and treachery for entertainment. 'Cause humans will never evolve.

Ice Dream. There’s some strange references going on in this one. If I don’t explain it won’t come together. Back in my day the Europe 72 3 record Dead live album had a crazy kid on the back cover smashing a cone on his head. Later an ice cream truck company called Weaser ripped off that art and would visit my mid Jersey neighborhood daily. Google it if you care. Flash forward to 2019. The ice cream truck that hits my neighborhood EVERY DAYS has a loud obnoxious song and no Greatful Dead connections. It drives me out of my mind so here is the result. I always try to turn my pain into gain. What a long strange explanation it’s been.
Happy people in my life.
Precisely just what they look like.
They smile big and some wear hats.
They hatched from eggs all laid by cats.
Milan , Prada shop. I used fine liner pens for the outline and wall detail and water colours pearlised by schmincke for the shop windows
Inky Lotus: Ink and watercolour
This Drawing of a duck was drawn from Cooper Creek Park. I can imagine this duck flying in the beautiful blue sky in the park, and going up to the Heavens.
