Recently re-watched.....a....certain...movie.....and felt persuaded to do this. I really liked the art style (not that i could do it myself) and wanted to try it in my own way. If you know what movie i'm talking about then feel free to comment it; i'm interested to see how many there are. Also, i would love some feedback on my art, this is the first one i've done with words in it sooo hopefully it "works".

Very random mind drifting, in a surprisingly good mood today. No matter how much has changed, this figure never dissappears. It continues to be something outside my drawing abilities, appearing as a highly abstract entity.
So this was merely a color practice with different brushes. I used marker, airbrush and paint. The hair is paint, the face, shirt, bow tie and shading was all used with marker. The airbrush was for the shiny effect on his bow tie. I have no rhyme or reason for this image, it was just something I created in my sketch book. I just needed to draw something to play around with.
This super unflattering self portrait comes with a good reason. I bought a magazine about watercolor painting today, thinking looking at beautiful pictures in bed would calm me down before sleep. Didnt happen! An invitation to a spring-themed contest was announced, putting my brain to work in high speed. After 3 hours i gave up sleeping and started some preparation work. Draping my head in a scarf, filming myself in the worst possible angle and making a rough sketch was first step. Hopefully i can get some sleep now.
Daily sketching is one of the best habits every artist should build.
The second important habit is sharing your work. It doesn't matter if it's a sketch, a work in progress, or finished artwork. Just share!

I haven't posted for awhile. The only thing I seem to be able to do right now, besides boring traditional student work (does anyone really want to see endless figure studies? I think not) is this weird graphic Journal. It may be the only thing I do for awhile here.
During my school days where we were asked to draw a still life of objects we want to go on holiday with. I have chosen a purse, some slippers and lots of cute little things. The colours look fantastic and it is a mixed medium art as I used colours, pencil and acrylics for this.
This is a digital rendering of a drawing I have recreated several times. The original was a doodle done in high school and has since been done as a painting, a tattoo design, and now as digital art. My inspiration was 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', classic cartoons (Woody the Woodpecker), and pinup art styles.

This species is also recorded in trade in West and Central Africa as this species is used for both traditional medicines and also they are intentionally killed for use in witchcraft. This species is part of the Accipitridae bird family, which diverged from all other species of bird 49.6 million years ago during the Paleogene period. Vultures split from the other genera in this family 12.7 million years ago. This species is highly sensitive to land-use and is concentrated to protected areas. Individuals were marked with patagial (wing) tags in Fouta Djallon vulture sanctuary to monitor movements and for a toxicological assessment of the vulture population of the park. Additional studies to monitor the movements of individuals within and between protected areas in underway is South Africa. So I wanted to try something new in my digital art journey. I experimented with new techniques. I tried to use a brush type that gives a transparency effect.
I chose one picture from Loish's book as a reference.
And here it is - a colorful landscape.

I got to drop into an outdoor class with my beloved teacher from the studio. A space had finally opened up two weeks before everything in SF shut down again. Well, it was good to see her and my fellow students and be in that setting on a beautiful sunny day. I was also negotiating my next job salary and getting phone calls during class, so I wasn't entirely present. The class topic for the day was palm trees. This is in front of the De Young, another place I was so glad to have visited indoors on another afternoon before the latest lock down.
