Shelter in Place Day 12

I watched a virtual wildflower walk yesterday, and it reminded me that it's spring and beautiful things are happening quietly all over the place. This is a plant emerging from the snow at a hot spring in Mammoth on a Valentine's trip just before I found out I was pregnant.

Patron Saint of Lost Keys and Small Things.

Patron Saint of Lost Keys and Small Things. Reminded me of this poem by Elizabeth Bishop. One Art The art of losing isn’t hard to master; so many things seem filled with the intent to be lost that their loss is no disaster. Lose something every day. Accept the fluster of lost door keys, the hour badly spent. The art of losing isn’t hard to master. Then practice losing farther, losing faster: places, and names, and where it was you meant to travel. None of these will bring disaster. I lost my mother’s watch. And look! my last, or next-to-last, of three loved houses went. The art of losing isn’t hard to master. I lost two cities, lovely ones. And, vaster, some realms I owned, two rivers, a continent. I miss them, but it wasn’t a disaster. —Even losing you (the joking voice, a gesture I love) I shan’t have lied. It’s evident the art of losing’s not too hard to master though it may look like (Write it!) like disaster.

Shelter in Place Day 20 and 21

An attempt at people. This is Holy Week for some of us. Yesterday was Palm Sunday, and we watched mass on our church's new YouTube channel. The Gospel reading was very long, so everyone in the frame was standing still for a good while. I was really looking forward to our spring class People in the Park because I haven't done much figure work. It was postponed of course, so your constructive criticism is welcome.

Mache Eier!

This is part of my daily Sketchgrind day 20. Study of chickens in the early morning.Spring is slowly arriving, I am thinking of the time we had mini chicks. So small and so fluffy.. I am missing my chickens!! Its like having a fish tank in your garden - so calming and funny to watch.

Sailor Moon Redraw

This has been going around the Internet recently, so I gave it a try myself. I experimented a little with my no-line pastel style to create my own version of a frame from the Sailor Moon anime. I really wanted to capture the expression and general feeling of the original while still making it look like my own original art. I hope you dig it. I worked on this while streaming. You can watch and hang out while I draw here: www.twitch.tv/ninjatron

Anime Characters in my style + Godzilla 1985

Based on anime characters. It's difficult for me to draw anime characters (which I'm not a big fan of watching) because I feel the need to draw lips and use my own style. I drew this online/live at Magma.com using an ipad pro (no Ai and no pressure sensitivity).

Korra the Avatar

Re-watching the series now. Really liked the general concept, visual character design and the action scenes. It even inspired me to make an AMV about Korra >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TIidatQrw8 It was nice and refreshing to see a (physically) strong rebellious female character, something different from a usual portrayal of female characters. However something went down the hill and I'm struggling to go past the 1st season hehe. I know, Korra and the whole series are quite controversial and I understand why, but as a female myself I was inspired by this badass female character (well, as I explained, until some point, but nonetheless). Anyways, hope you enjoy my drawing ^^ Program used: Paint Tool SAI

Watch

I let the chickens and the roosters out to have their daily walk. I need to keep an eye on them, there might be foxes around. The raspberries had ripened, and needed to be collected before they rotted on the branch. The stork flew by, and sat on the roof of the abandoned house nearby. The storks live next-doors, quite lovely neighbors. He was watching the chickens with me.

Venoct from Yo-Kai Watch

This isn't a recent drawing, but it's an old favorite of mine. This is Venoct from a game called Yo-kai Watch. When I drew him, I tried to make him look older because I think the actual character is a kid. Anyway, thanks for checking it out!

Powder from Arcane

This is kind of a sad one :/ but I thought it would be fun to draw some fan art :)! If you didn’t know, this is Powder from a show called Arcane! If you haven’t see it, I highly recommend you watch it :)! P.S: She’s suppose to be sitting on her bed, but I thought it would ruin the background if I added it.

Dr. David Baker - art education professor.

He was passionate about the idea that art in schools is for the growth and development of children, not about the end product. "Drawing makes the mind", he would say. Froebel, the inventor of kindergarten, is the father of art education in schools. Give kids gifts (art supplies), and occupations (assignments), and watch them grow! Fare well Dr. Baker.
