Got started on the classic show again and got the urge to draw out the greatest evil that ever crossed our screens. Though with the twist of showing the Great Evil in a more desolate, ruined presentation. What do you guys think?

The amaranthus are commonly used as symbols of eternity/immortality due to its ability to retain its color for a long time after dying/cut off". I thought that this phenomenon represents "hope" more than the more common meaning of "devotion/undying love". Having hope keeps us alive during difficult periods where we are cut off from the things that typically motivates us, whether it be financial resources, loved ones, etc., and I tried to convey this by juxtaposing the vibrant colours of the flowers (symbolizing hope and life) with the grayscale tone of the statue (symbolizing death and brokenness).

I just discovered Chartpak markers and am in love; they are truly awesome to work with. The colors are so rich and never streaky. So if you didn't guess, this was done using Chartpaks and a Gelly Roll Glaze Black pen.

Happy feast of St. John of the Cross, one of the doctors of the church. Well known for his work on the "Dark night of the Soul" which is different than "Spiritual Desolation" that St. Ignatius talks about. We all have our crosses to bear but we don't always see the fruit. It's a fitting day for me as I got a big cross today but with God's grace I can support it. Here is her half (which is awesome): www.deviantart.com/optimisticj… For mine, I had to draw a monster called a "niter" based off of his description: "Niters communicate in whispers. Nocturnal. Shy away from light. They’re black and oily and emanate a bluish glow. Large, looming 6 foot shadow things with massive hind legs, clawed for climbing trees and they have ‘maws’ instead of arms, claw-like appendages they stab people with and only one gaping blue eye. Their mouths open up and they swallow their victims whole." What's funny is that I didn't see the fact that they emanate a bluish glow until now. So, the glow from the eye is purely by coincidence. Figuring out the hind legs of this creature was difficult, and so I sought reference images, and of all things, the koala turned out to be a pretty good reference. For a while, there, it was looking like Carnage from Spiderman, but I toned down the reddish-hue a bit. The intention was to give the appearance of motor oil. So, now to find out how badly I failed at drawing this... This art trade was fun, though, and I would do a similar one, again. But I am le tired.

It hasn't stopped since the master's last order. The very nature of this machine is loyalty itself. Sometimes the scavengers follow it, picking up the remains it leaves behind in its search. What is it searching for? The center of the Earth? Nirvana? Hell for us ? Many a strange thing lay in the world of Nornwan. Was it always so? Mayhaps... The first stage of clay is slip. Slip is watery clay; it is most often used to "slip and score", which I used to attach the features of the mug to the mug itself. The second stage of clay is wet. Wet is moist, very plastic clay. Wet is the type of clay I love to use, just because it feels so fresh, and because it is moist enough that I don't have to soften it with water. The third stage of clay is leather hard. Leather hard is the stage my mug was in after being left on the shelf for twenty-four hours or so. It is easier to cut but very difficult to sculpt. The fourth stage of clay is greenware. Greenware is completely dry clay that is fragile and breakable. I would say that greenware is an overdose of leather hard for the clay. In other words, leaving clay out for a longer amount of time can turn leather hard clay into greenware. The fifth stage of clay is bisque. This is the clay after its first firing. If it was grey clay, it is now white in this stage. It is now completely hard and no longer soft in any way. Bisque, luckily, is only one stage away from glaze... The sixth stage of clay is glaze. This is the final firing and results in a smooth texture and a shiny look. I loved the way my glaze came out. While I was painting the mug, it was more of a ruddy red-brown but when it glazed, it turned out to be this beautiful spotted green.

The artist will feel that his work is nothing special, similar to many other artistic attempts that disappear in the dark of forgetfulness. Some spark is missing in his artistic creation, which would do its job gave a life that lasts. The disapproval of the Observer, their unpleasant resonance, if frequent, it can make a more sensitive artist to dump the brush and consecrate himself a completely different job, in which self-criticism does not play a significant role.

Every year my uncle asks for hand-made gifts about his "awesomeness". I whipped up a quick homage to our family tradition of playing super complicated games that inevitably end up in rule debates and many beers/wine. :)
