This was Emma Thompson in one of my favourite films, Stranger Than Fiction - she is brilliant! I used just colouring pencils in this one to try out a soft, harmonious look, on the background of blue A4 card. I quite like the relationship between the foreground and background in this piece; had the background been white, I don't think it would have worked as well.

2nd version of the Comma with a rainbow paint effect background. I think more paint ended up on the desk, wall, tv, phone etc than the paper! 6th buttefly in the series of literally butterflies
This very small sketch/doodle, enlarged, inspired a six foot tall painting. The background on the painting is incomplete. I'm back at this work in progress based on this small image from a sketchsheet. This painting will appear at my solo show in Thunder Bay in a couple years.

This is for my best friend, we want to stay friends hopefully forever. I took things she said to me and put it in the background, honestly this wasn’t a thing I was gonna post but why not.
Just something random I decided to do giving myself a break from the regular studies. I like the way the background came out as it gives off kind of a weird static or "noise" like from old movie reels lol
My three nieces doodled all over the background of this canvas and I did the painting of Neve in the foreground. I'll get my other two nieces painted in the summer.
I love the versatility of acrylic paint. You can change the consistency by adding water or acrylic mediums. These additions enable artists to create transparent glazes or thick impasto textures. The fast-drying nature of acrylics makes it easier to correct mistakes or make alterations during the painting process. I only drew Kitty, not the background. Don't ask why I'm so obsessed with DDLC... I do other things too, but DDLC is the main thing that I draw (Especially since I try to base my style off of the Doki Doki art). This didn't turn out as well as some of my other drawings because it's a bit smaller... Ignore those feet, I don't usually draw feet, so I don't have any practice... Anyway, if you have any suggestions or feedback, please let me know! :)
When I moved into my first apartment, I knew I wanted to create my own wall art. So like any Potterhead artist, I binged Harry Potter movies and painted for many hours straight. This painting is part of a three piece set featuring my favorite plants painted on a soft gradient background. This 8”x10” acrylic painting is made on pre-stretched canvas.
This is was more of an experiment as I wanted to see what black ink would like on paper with an "aged" like background. I think it came out quite nicely but I also think that the black ink might seem a bit too bold. I'm not really sure.
This a self portrait drawing of myself as a younger man, with a lot of shadow play on the portrait itself and a stylized background of a sky, clouds and the sun, rendered in a kind of an imaginary dream-like almost surreal scenario. Many thanks for looking.
Combination of traditional and digital art. I actually hand painted this on some very textured paper with oil pastels a while back, so to 'tidy and clean' it I had to employ digital means. The background was done with alcohol inks, the 'flow' of it I was particularly proud of :).
The background of this painting is created by these two girls. I had daughters of a friend paint a canvas and then I painted them into their painting. It could be a commentary on modern art, but it's ore just for fun and makes for a cool image.
